PAR Ground School
Ten modules mapped to the Private Pilot ACS, each with the rules, the reasoning behind them, worked examples you can redo on a kneeboard, and a quiz with explanations. Then drill with flashcards, run the calculators, and take timed 60-question practice exams.
The best commercial ground schools share one loop: short lesson → immediate questions → explanation of every miss → repeat until your practice scores are consistently high. This guide uses that loop and adds the "why" behind each rule, because the checkride oral will ask you to explain, not just recognize.
What each program does well
Sporty's: short video segments, each followed by a quiz, and a test-prep mode that drills the question pool.
King Schools: concept first, then practice questions with explanations, and you keep cycling until you are "cleared" to test.
Part Time Pilot: small plain-English lessons in audio, video and text for busy adults, plus memory aids and an unlimited practice-test generator.
Rules of the road for studying
Do one module per sitting. Read, work the examples by hand, then take the module quiz.

Book the test when three practice exams in a row score 90%+. Your examiner sees every ACS code you miss.

The Schedule
Test day
Bring: government photo ID, your instructor's knowledge-test endorsement (or ground school completion certificate), a plotter and an E6B or approved electronic flight computer. Book through PSI.
Time: sources disagree on whether PAR allows 2.0 or 2.5 hours. The practice exam here uses 2 hours so you train on the tighter number. Confirm when you book.
Pass 1: answer everything you know cold and flag the rest. Pass 2: work flagged computation and chart questions using the testing supplement figures.
After: your Airman Knowledge Test Report lists missed ACS codes. Bring it to your CFI and study those areas before the checkride. The result is valid for 24 calendar months.
Primary sources
Every rule here traces to one of these. When something feels off, the source wins.
These are the computations and recognition drills that show up as test questions. Each tool shows its math, so you can check your hand work against it.

Answer
"Again" sends the card back into the pile three cards later. "Got it" retires it for this session.
Full Practice Exam
60 questions drawn across all ten modules, weighted toward regulations and airspace the way the real test leans. Two-hour clock. Flag questions and come back. You see nothing graded until you submit, just like PSI.
